This is a summary of what we believe; it is the basis of what is taught at Grace church. We share these core beliefs with the international Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches and all those who are true Christians around the world.
GOD exists eternally in three distinct but equal persons - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The BIBLE is comprised of sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments and is the divinely inspired and authoritative revelation of God to man. It is the final authority in all areas of faith and practice.
The entire HUMAN RACE is created in the image of God and given the role of caring for creation. Sin, however, affects everyone and everything, evoking God’s wrath and judgement
JESUS, the eternal Son of God, took on flesh in the incarnation. He is fully God and fully man, born of a virgin and without sin. He died on the cross in the place of sinners, bearing the punishment for sin. He physically rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, where he is seated with the Father as the only saviour of the world.
SALVATION is entirely the work of God’s grace and comes only through faith in Jesus’ perfect sacrifice for sin. Faith includes belief, repentance and a commitment to live according to God’s plan.
The HOLY SPIRIT is at work now in the lives of all true believers in Jesus Christ. He convicts of sin and leads to repentance, imparts spiritual gifts, and guides into true understanding of the Scriptures.
The CHURCH is the sum total of all true believers, the body of which Christ is the head. It is made visible in local churches which gather to worship, teach the Word, edify and equip one another to reach out to the surrounding community. The Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the church: BAPTISM and COMMUNION. We believe in baptism of believers by immersion and communion open to all believers.
In the FUTURE Jesus will physically return to the earth to fulfil God’s plan and purposes. He will raise all people to judgement, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
This is a summary of what we practice in our Grace Church family. Here we have the freedom to develop our understanding of the Bible.
DISCIPLESHIP, following Jesus’ example and teachings, is at the heart of what it means to be a true Christian. Personal Bible study and prayer are key to the growth of any disciple of Jesus, and we offer help in learning how to do this effectively.
FELLOWSHIP with other believers is also crucial for growth as a disciple; no disciple was meant to go it alone. Regular opportunities are offered to spend time together as a spiritual family, learning and serving.
WORSHIP is a core activity for all true disciples of Jesus. The church family meets regularly to worship, usually including music, prayer, the public reading of Scripture, and Bible teaching. The church also worships through the baptism of new believers, typically done through trine immersion, and communion, observed through a combination of threefold communion (John 13) and sharing the bread and the cup.
SERVING and OUTREACH are important for each true disciple of Jesus, to use his/her specific spiritual gifts for the good of the local body of Christ, to serve the needs of the broader community, and to share the Gospel.
